Microsoft has rolled out the newest update to their Windows 11 platform. Microsoft has stated that they will be focusing their innovation in four key areas:

  • Making the PC easier and safer to use for everyone
  • Empowering people to be more productive
  • Making Windows the best place to connect, create and play
  • Delivering added security, management and flexibility to the workplace

Microsoft will be building on the foundation of the platform including updates to the Start menu, faster and more accurate search, Quick Settings, improved local and current events coverage in the Widgets board, and tabs in the File Explorer.

With regards to security, Microsoft states that Windows 11 is the most secure version yet, with the built-in Defender app for Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers. Microsoft 365 customers in the U.S. will soon receive identity theft monitoring as part of their Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription.

Microsoft has also brought to the table enhancements with their Snap layouts multitasking tool, the new Focus feature, a Do Not Disturb option, and performance and battery optimizations.

For entertainment and communication, the new update also improves video and audio calls, with Windows Studio Effects, new creator tools, additional gaming features and updates to the Microsoft Store experience.

IT efficiency has also received a bump, as critically important new security features and new management tools will help give IT professionals the tools they need to manage multiple Windows endpoints securely and easily, no matter where people are working.

For businesses, Smart App Control is also a valuable feature available on Windows 11 devices or clean installations of the Windows 11 Update 2022. Smart App Control blocks untrusted and unsigned applications, script files and malicious macros from running on Windows 11.
